A charming Beluga whale's gentle smile greets the viewer in the deep ocean. The rest of the pod accompanies him on their journey but seem content to be in the distant background. Beluga whales have a flexible neck, strong muscular bodies and a dorsal ridge along their backs. They a make a wide variety of vocalizations with the help of their bulbous melon on their head which can change shape. They are very intelligent and curious creatures and often approach people and boats. They may be easily tamed but this may work against them in the wild.
